The Space, Prahran

I am unsure if I need to say much about the Space. It is an iconic place for taking dance classes in Melbourne. One of the first results that comes up online. They offer a wide range of open classes throughout the week and on weekends. Classes at the space are especially affordable at $22 per class. The affordability of the class does not compromise the quality of the class.

The Space is situated in Prahran, a suburb where the old blended with the new. The Victorian-style buildings typically retained their characters of bay windows, ornate detailing, and classic facades while modernized with fixtures and furnishing on the inside.

I attended a class on a Sunday morning. Every minute of the class was like melting chocolate. I indulged in the teacher's choreography synchronising movement and music. The one thing I found challenging was the wooblely barre, yep need to use my abs more.

Booking

To book a class, you register for an account on their portal. You can purchase a single class for $22. They also offer bulk class passes of 3, 6, 12, 12, 24 packages. And as usual, the more classes you purchase at once the more affordable it gets. If you buy 24 classes at once each class would only be $15.83! https://www.thespace.com.au/portal/

Getting there

There are train and tram stops nearby. I find parking a bit challenging in this area. If you are lucky, you might find free onstreet parking nearby. There are some 2 or 4-hour or all-day parking in the studio. On the day I visited, I struggled to find an available spot, so I paid for parking at a nearby car park for 2 hours for $5.60.

Special mention

Walk over to Prahran Market for coffee and pastries. This market sells fresh produce, baked goods, hard-to-find cheese and more. I just love the vibe.
